The Casita Lamp is the work of two Oaxacan artists whose crafts have been passed down through generations of their families. The ceramic base is formed by hand from red clay gathered from the mountains around Santa María Aztompa by celebrated potter Eligio Zárate Blanco, whose family has shaped this clay for generations. The palm shade is woven by award-winning weaver Belén Perez Garcia, who harvests indigenous palm leaves from the hills near her home, selecting young leaves for sage green shades and mature leaves for blonde. The colour of the shade is determined entirely by when in the palm's life cycle the leaf was gathered

Each lamp is unique as a result. The clay base will vary slightly in form, the shade in tone and texture. No two Casita Lamps are exactly alike.

The combination of hand-formed red clay and finely woven palm creates a lamp with a warmth and material depth that sits naturally in bedrooms, living rooms, and on side tables, anywhere that benefits from a considered object that carries a real story.

Wired in Los Angeles to US standards with a vanilla cord and brass fittings. Available with a sage green or blonde shade. Trade pricing available for interior designers and architects.

MATERIAL

LIGHT SHADE: Mexican Fan Palm (Washingtonia robusta) is Native to northwestern Mexico. This palm thrives in arid landscapes and has been used by indigenous communities for centuries. The young fronds are harvested without harming the tree, or gathered from the ground, then dried in the sun until they reach the ideal pliability for weaving. Artisans slice the distinctive fan-shaped fronds into strips, carefully preparing each piece to preserve the material's natural strength and flexibility.

Light and flexible, the palm allows artisans to create tight, intricate weaves using techniques passed down through generations. The fronds' pleated structure provides inherent texture, while their color, ranging from blonde to silver to sage green depending on harvest timing, brings organic variation and warmth to woven pieces.

LAMP BASE: red Oaxacan clay fired in a traditional wood-fired kiln
