The Toasted Carrizo Pendant Light, is a darker ‘toasted’ version of our lighter colored Carrizo Pendant Light. Hand woven in Oaxaca, Mexico, this light shade is constructed from "carrizo", a bamboo-like river reed, that has been harvested and processed by master craftsman Edgar Perez and his family. The Perez family have worked with this natural, sustainable material and honed their craft for 4 generations.

This handcrafted woven pendant light fixture is ideal for any living space where you wish to have a warm downward light.

    MATERIAL

    Carrizo (Arundo donax) is a material valued for its remarkable strength, rapid growth, and versatility in traditional craft.

    This tall reed thrives along riverbanks, streams, and wetland areas throughout Mexico and the southwestern United States. It has hollow, bamboo-like stems and is among the fastest-growing plants on earth. To harvest, artisans cut the canes at the base, then split them lengthwise into strips using a sharp knife. These strips are hand-shaved smooth, and those destined for darker tones are carefully toasted over open flames to create contrasting patterns in the finished work.

    The rigid nature of Arundo donax creates a sturdy weave that diffuses light with warmth and lots of texture.

    • PREORDER 3-4 weeks - If a wired light with your order specifications is NOT in stock at our LA studio but a shade IS in stock, the purchase button will show 'pre-order' and a shade will take 2-3 weeks to be wired to your specifications (after which your order will be shipped on our next shipping day)

    • OUT OF STOCK 8-10 weeks - If neither a wired light nor a light shade is in stock at our LA studio the purchase button will show 'sold out' and wait times are generally 8-10 weeks, depending on the season
