We're back at LA Design Weekend for our third year with an exciting guest collaborator!

LA Design Weekend moves through the East Side across five days: September 30th - October 4th. We're opening our Lincoln Heights studio on Saturday, October 3rd with artist Mirena Kim to create an installation that brings together her paper sculpture and our handwoven lighting.

LA artist Mirena Kim makes ceramic sculpture, paintings, and paper sculptures. Her practice moves between form and abstraction, building pieces that sit somewhere between utility and visual investigation. For this installation, she's working with reclaimed and recycled paper pulp.

LA Design Weekend encourages you to to travel from one studio to the next by foot, bike, or Metro. On Saturday there will be open studios, exhibitions, installations, workshops, product launches, and special events across our neighbourhood of Lincoln Heights from 11am-4pm, followed by evening events in Atwater & Silver Lake, and a late-night celebration at Small Green Door in Boyle Heights.

WHY THIS PART OF TOWN?

In congregating downtown and in Northeast LA, LADW invites the broader design community of Los Angeles and out-of-towners to meet the city’s emerging, independent creatives where they are and draw a throughline connecting other ends of the city to the east side.

The neighborhoods in Central and Northeast LA are also home to Los Angeles’ design and manufacturing history, and LADW is excited to support the growing network of design studios in this region.

We've been part of LA Design Weekend since the beginning, and each year is better than the last. We see people we know and meet people we don't, all moving through these neighborhoods together. It's become something we genuinely look forward to because of the energy and the generosity of the LA design community. Join us!
