twenty one tonnes presents txt.ure in los angeles

TXT.URE

At the intersection of preservation and innovation stands txt.ure — a pioneering collaborative design initiative that has been transforming Mexico's design landscape since 2015. Founded by Regina Pozo, former director of Archivo Diseño y Arquitectura, txt.ure celebrates the distinctive functional, historical, and aesthetic elements of Mexican folk furniture while pushing the boundaries of contemporary design.

What distinguishes txt.ure is its commitment to treating history as a living, breathing entity. Rather than simply preserving artifacts of the past, the project creates dynamic dialogue between traditional craftsmanship and modern design thinking. By fostering experimentation among Mexican designers while honoring regional techniques and indigenous materials, txt.ure cultivates a design ecosystem where heritage and innovation coexist harmoniously.

Through its work, txt.ure invites us to see Mexican design not as static tradition but as an evolving conversation between past, present, and future.

PAMPA

Pampa is a design practice that bridges Australian aesthetics with Latin American craftsmanship. Through their collections of rugs, textiles, and homewares, Pampa preserves the rapidly fading art of manual weaving and natural dyeing in remote Argentinian communities. The name itself—meaning "plain between the mountains" in Quechua—embodies the brand's commitment to place and material authenticity.

Working directly with artisans, Pampa's ethical model ensures craftspeople receive above-average wages while working within their own communities. This approach deliberately counters the urban migration that typically leads to displacement and lost traditional knowledge. Their partnerships, built on years of mutual respect, sustain not just livelihoods but entire cultural ecosystems.

Pampa's vision is forward-looking rather than nostalgic. By guiding ancient techniques into the future, they create pieces that honor heritage while fitting seamlessly into contemporary spaces. The result is an anthropological approach to design that celebrates humanity's creative traditions while ensuring their continued relevance.
