These felt lanterns are made by hand in France from soft natural wool. They throw a golden light, adding warmth and whimsy to your living space. Because they are lit by a battery powered garland they can go anywhere - hang them on a wall or (securely) over a child's bed, set them on a coffee table, mantle or shelf, or even carry them by hand.
The maker of these lanterns was born and grew up in Eastern Siberia, close to the border of Mongolia - a place where indigenous people historically bred sheep and made felt from their wool. It was there that her interest in the craft began. She uses a traditional method of felting wool, just her hands and a few natural materials – wool, water and organic soap - as it was done hundreds of years ago.
